The Prizes of the Bach Competition 2026

Awards

• 1st Prize: 20.000 €
• 2nd Prize: 10.000 €
• 3rd Prize: 5.000 €

The 1st prize is donated by Sparkasse Leipzig, main sponsor of the Bach Competition.
The prizewinners are entitled to use the title »Bach Prizewinner«.

Special Prizes

> The Christa Bach Marschall Foundation will loan out two instruments to participants, one a modern violin and one a violin built following a historical model.

> Audience Award, donated by the Vereinigung der Freunde des Bach-Archivs e.V.: 2.000 € for one of the finalists

Concert engagements

> The winner of the 1st prize will perform a concert in the Mendelssohn Hall of the Gewandhaus on 14 June 2026 as part of the 2026 Bachfest Leipzig.

> The prizewinners undertake to perform in the prizewinners’ concerts during Bachfest Leipzig 2026.
